The ibt group are pleased to announce that we now have a fully accredited CPD presentation outlining the basic KNX technology and how it links via worldwide manufacturing partnerships into other elements of a totally Integrated Building Technology solution fit for the demands of the modern construction environment. As members of the UK KNX association we have committed to promoting the benefits of this worldwide open protocol bus system and the short seminars will be presented by Hugh Whalley, ex president of the KNX Association, now General Manager of Entech (a division of the IBT Group)
The ibt Group believe that the KNX solution answers positively, so many of the required fields such as sustainability, future proofing, energy saving, and therefore cost saving, and functionality far beyond the industry standard culminating in our totally environmentally sound offer.
If you would like a formally accredited CPD presentation to be held at your premises, or would just like more information then please contact Constance Wolstenholme on 0161 292 9033 or email constance.w@entech-ltd.com
Do not risk being left behind by not knowing about this proven technology whose development continues apace.
As a part of the long term maintenance and improvement programme, estates and commercial facilities and Lindum Construction will be carrying out works to the main administration building between June and September 2009. The scope of works will include constant daylight control along with presence and absence control, software will be installed to allow the control and monitoring of these areas from a central location in the building. The work will be carried out in association with our partner Siteco Lighting.
The buildings comprise 40,000 sq ft of office space to be used by Bury Council, the ground floor of which will comprise 7,500 sq ft of retail and leisure units and a 50,000 sq ft building which has been pre-let to Bury Primary Care Trust for a state of the art medical centre. Designed by architects Hurd Rolland, the medical centre will offer a huge range of facilities including two new GP's surgeries, a walk-in-centre and services from midwifery and speech therapy to ophthalmology and podiatry.
EnTech will be installing a KNX control solution which includes constant daylight control throughout each of the buildings, the emphasis being on energy saving and carbon reduction.
Building -- Learning Center Scope of works
DSI lighting control system including RGB LED control
Consultant -- Hoare Lea Manchester
Electrical Contractor -- Hirst & Danson
After working closely with Hoare Lea Consultants of Manchester, EnTech are proud to announce that they have recently been appointed to design and build the DSI lighting control system, including RGB LED control in the Learning Centre at Lancaster University.
A reporter from the Electrical Times recently attended the MediaCityUK site in Salford with EnTech's Noel Ward to get material and images for an exclusive in-depth story to appear in their May issue. N. G. Bailey and Bovis Lendlease were also involved and we are looking forward to reading what should prove to be a very interesting article.
EnTech has just begun work on a significant contract win to deliver its technology solutions on phase one of the prestigious MediaCityUK development at Salford Quays, Manchester.
Awarded by NG Bailey, the UK's leading provider of building services and mechanical and electrical solutions, the contract will see EnTech providing the design and commissioning of an intelligent building control solution. The backbone three buildings to EnTech's design is the world's foremost open protocol for building controls, KNX. This cutting edge offer delivers massive energy savings and markedly enhanced functionality.
KNX as a protocol links via gateways to a standard specification BMS system. This allows for the communication of all data relating to energy, variance in use across zones or areas, fault reporting to the FM division and remote system diagnosis and control.
In effect KNX becomes the deliverer of the 'vital life signs' within the day to day life of any given building, regulating and maintaining these elements to the occupants' specific desired design and usage criteria. Maximising utility, minimising energy usage and waste.
EnTech is part of the ibt Group of companies which combines architectural design, lighting specialists and audiovisual solutions. As specialists in intelligent building controls, EnTech have long been a leading proponent of KNX and the company was selected after a lengthy review process during which the company demonstrated its ability to deliver world-class intelligent building control solutions on large-scale commercial projects.
The directors of EnTech have seen a noticeable shift in the construction market when it comes to the adoption of intelligent building controls. "Our business has grown significantly over the last 18 months and this is largely in response to the market's increasing awareness of the potential of KNX technology. The MediaCityUK project is no exception. In many respects, we see this project as the dawning of 'new age' in the market's acceptance of the KNX protocol: all of those involved in the specification process have included KNX because they know that it provides a building's owners and tenants with efficiency, sustainability and future-proofing," commented Alan Vickery, Managing Director of EnTech.
This year is the first time that EnTech have exhibited at the Building Schools Exhibition and Conference which was held at Manchester Central Exhibition Hall on 11th and 12th of February. Hugh Whalley (General Manager EnTech) and Alan Vickery (MD, ibt group) attended on both days and found the experience invaluable in terms of meeting like minded people and potential future clients.
The exhibition was attended by more than 3000 people and involved in every aspect of the building and running of an educational establishment. The emphasis was definitely on saving energy, reducing costs and improving efficiency, an area in which we know we have a lot to offer.
Overall, EnTech feel that the exhibition was a resounding success -- many contacts were made and we now have a lot of work to do in order to nurture these new relationships.
Hugh Whalley commented 'This is the first time we have attended this particular exhibition, I found it to be an extremely busy 2 days with many consultants and architects attending the exhibition and conference that enabled us to make some good contacts for future business. It was also good to see so many local authorities attending; I found talking to them direct helped me personally to gain a better understanding of their structure and approach of the BSF programme"
Alan Vickery added "For the first time in many a year I found this conference both hugely enjoyable and informative, EnTech are bringing to the table a new and exciting technology and it was so refreshing that the vast majority of individuals and companies welcomed new ideas, concepts and potential solutions that these new technologies bring to the BSF programme. The professionalism I encountered was a credit to all those involved."
