1-10 v analog was the first and simplest form of lighting control. Each fixture has it own control cable and a DC control voltage of 0 volt to 10 volt will dim the lighting fitting.
The advantages of this technology are its simplicity to implement and trouble shoot.
The disadvantages of this technology are the number of cables required. Each device requires a control cable. Large systems would require expense multicore cable. Each device also needs to be calibrated to compensate for voltage drop due to wire resistance.
1-10v integration with KNX is available. A KNX 1-10v multiport dimmer allows control over a number of ballasts. Although the functionality to integrate with 1 -10v systems is there, the use of this technology as a system wider solution wouldn't be advised.
